Obituary of Betty C Pirro

Betty Collie Pirro Binghamton: Betty Collie Pirro, 93, of Binghamton, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday afternoon, March 27, 2011, with her loving family by her side. She was born on May 21, 1917 in Manhattan, NY, the daughter of James and Rose Collie. She was predeceased by her husband, James Pirro in 1989; and her sister, Edna Cunningham in 2005. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Smith and her husband Eddy, Vestal, NY; and her son, Robert Pirro, Rosemead, CA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brian and Sharon Smith, Endwell, NY, Jason and Rachael Smith, Binghamton, NY; and by 5 great grandchildren, Benjamin, Haley, Samuel, Cooper and Tucker; also survived by a nephew, Edmund Cunningham; nieces, Audrey Cunningham and Maureen Ash. Betty cherished serving the Lord through teaching children and through music. She was a longtime member of First Baptist, Johnson City, and used her lovely voice to glorify God in the choir and her solo ministry. She was an active member of her Harmony Sunday School Class and the Golden Heirs. The family wishes to thank Dr. Ramanujan who was her physician for many years. Also many thanks to the Staff at Lourdes and at Willow Point Nursing Home for such loving and gentle care. Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 1, 2011, at 11 a.m. from First Baptist Church, 1321 Reynolds Road, Johnson City. Officiating will be a special friend, the Rev. David C. Seaver, and her Pastor, James Murphy. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church on Thursday, March 31, 2011, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church, 1321 Reynolds Road, Johnson City, NY 13790. Arrangements are with the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Endicott.
