Obituary of Virginia C. Nycz

Virginia C. "Jean" Nycz Endwell: Virginia "Jean" Nycz, 73, of Endwell, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Monday, April 18, 2011, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Edward J. Nycz; parents, Robert and Bertha Pitts; sister, Peggy Cicciarelli; sister-in-law, Irene Skolny. She is survived by daughters, Deborah and Anthony Grassi, Johnson City, Theresa and Gary Morrison, San Antonio, TX; a son, Ted and Sandra Nycz, Jacksonville, NC; granddaughters, Breanna and Cassandra Nycz; and great-grandson, Jacob, all of Jacksonville, NC; sisters, Joan Pitts, Endicott, and Roberta and Gerald Reeves, Rougemont, NC; brother-in-law, Angelo Cicciarelli, Endwell; extended family, Robert, Barbara, John and Susan Strom, Endwell; several nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and her little dog, "Magee". Jean retired from Prudential Insurance after over 20 years of service. She was a former Girl Scout Leader, was active with Mom's House and was a long-time volunteer for Meals on Wheels of Western Broome. Jean loved to talk on the phone to keep in touch with family and friends. She was a fountain of knowledge and enjoyed her role as confidant and personal advisor. Jean doled out ample doses of wisdom, discipline, humor and encouragement as the situation warranted. She possessed a very loving and giving spirit and is already greatly missed. The family would like to thank the Lourdes staff of Ross 1 as well as Drs. Kloss and Patel and their caring staff members, especially Melinda, Pat and Nadine for their kindness. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 25, at 11:00 a.m. at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 E. Main St., Endicott with Rev. Dennis Ruda from All Saints National Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell. The family will receive friends on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Donations in Jean's memory may be made to any of the following: Mom's House, 770 Harry L.
