Leila M. Dymond
Of Vestal
Leila M. Dymond, 88, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, May 19, 2011, at the home of her daughter. She was born in Vestal, NY, the youngest of seven children. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, James W. Dymond, in 1997, her parents, Horace Dow Edwards and Amy Estella (Avis) Edwards, her daughter, Shirley Mae Bates, four sisters; Leah (Frank) Helmus, Teresa (Arthur) Wilcox, Josephine (Emery) Mix, Faith (Arnold) Hill; two brothers, John Edwards and Arthur (Virginia) Edwards.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyne and Bill Brown, Vestal; one son-in-law, Tony Bates, Bastrop,, TX; four grandchildren and their spouses, Amy Sue (Waibel) and Donald Light, Binghamton; Shawn Waibel and Becky Joseph, Barton, NY; Renee Lea (Bates) and Steve Jones, Bastrop, TX; James Clinton and Jennifer Bates, Bastrop, TX. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren; Ryan Joseph Waibel and Hayley Rae Waibel of Barton, NY, Baillie Marie Jones and Stephanie Mae Jones, both of Bastrop, TX; Meghan Nicole Bates and Anglin Grace Bates both of Bastrop, TX; also, one sister-in-law, Doris (Dymond) Schenck of South Gibson, PA. Also several nieces and nephews.
Leila was a lifetime member of the Vestal United Methodist Church and a lifetime resident of Vestal. Having been born in the same house she had lived in her entire life. Leila retired from the former Amphenol Cadre with 30 years of service. She also worked for several years at Star Dry Cleaners in Vestal. She was a gifted hand quilter and crocheter.
Funeral services for Leila will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2011, at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main St., Vestal. The Rev. Susan E. Davis will officiate. Burial will be in the Vestal Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 -7:00 P.M. on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make contributions in her memory to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Old Vestal Rd., Vestal, NY 13850 or to the Alzheimers Assoc. of the Southern Tier, 401 Hayes Ave., Endicott, NY 13760.
