Francis J. Pipher
of Vestal: Francis J. Pipher, 81, of Vestal passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents John C. Pipher and Mildred Pipher, his brothers Lewis and Elwood Pipher, and daughter Susan M. Stevens. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Virginia E. Pipher, son David J. Pipher, and his grandchildren Nathan Stevens, William D. Pipher, Caitlin C. Pipher and Mary Margaret Pipher. He was born June 4, 1929 in Johnson City, NY. He graduated from Johnson City High School. He served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict as a cook. He was a retired employee of IBM, Endicott and was a member of its Quarter Century Club and a member of the Vestal United Methodist Church. He was an avid woodworker and inventor of many household gadgets. Francis enjoyed going on charter bus trips around the country and Canada with his wife. He will be surely missed for his sense of humor and dedication to his wife. The family would like to thank the caring staff of Lourdes Hospital 1 West for their great care of Francis. A memorial service will be held Saturday June 4, 2011 at 12 noon from the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home Inc., 765 Main St., Vestal. The Rev. Michael Willis, pastor of his church, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell, at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until service time at noon.
