Obituary of Shirley A. Jones

Shirley A. (Nelson) Jones Of Apalachin: Shirley A. (Nelson) Jones of Apalachin, NY was carried home on angels wings on Thursday June 16th, 2011. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Reese Jones; Three children, Debra (AZ), David & Sue (Endwell), and Daniel & Debra (Owego). Her four Grandchildren Erica, Daniel, Amy & Ryan and her three Great Grandchildren, Abbigail, Bryor Reese, & Garrett. Brother, Kenneth Nelson & wife Georgia (CA), Brother in law Tom & his wife Marilyn (Apalachin); and special cousins Joanne Zimmerman & MaryJean Rettman (MI). Also several nieces,nephews,cousins, and many loving friends. Shirley was predeceased by her parents Helmer & Ida Nelson and brother Bob. She graduated from Traverse City, Mi. H.S. in 1950 and began her career as a telephone operator there. After caring for her children she joined IBM and retired in 1990. She loved to play golf, ski and travel. She especially enjoyed trips to her home town and winter seasons in Florida with loving, wonderful friends. A Memorial Service for Shirley will be held on Wednesday, June 22 at 1:00 p.m. at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, St. Rt. 434 in Apalachin. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer's Association , 441 West Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204 or a charity of your choice.
