Obituary of Joseph R Keough

Joseph Raymond Keough Endicott: Joseph Raymond Keough, 54, Endicott, NY. After a long and heroic battle, Joe took in a breath of sweet mother Earth and quietly took his leave with his family tenderly caring for him. Leaving behind a life brimming with love, Joe slipped into the embrace of those who were waiting for him knowing he would forever look over those who will be missing him. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Lucy Keough. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 29 years, Mary (Mooney) Keough; daughter, Lindsay (John) Villanti, Oneonta; son, Jesse J, Endicott; grandchildren, Jacob "Cob", Hannah "Kitty", and Isabella "Belle" Villanti, all of Oneonta; sisters, Mary (Jim) Buszuwski, Teresa (Bill) Hanrahan, Paula (Scott) Russell; brothers, Jack (Pam) Keough, Jim (Amy) Keough; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and dear friends, in particular Jim Skinner, who shared in many of Joe's misadventures. Joe was a loyal employee at UHS for 27 years where he forged deep and lasting relationships with all the good people who worked there. NASCAR fueled the fires in Joe's love for racing with his heroes often sending him into tirades of disgust, but his flags always flew to honor them on race day. Joe had a deep love of all music and collected every possibility of how notes could come together. His ultimate strength in fighting so hard for so long came in the three little personalities of his grandkids, from whom he drew an abiding love and friendship. Joe's words to you "I live inside each of you, speak to me through God in thoughts unspoken. Don't cry for me in sorrow, a smile in my memory will pave a straighter path in your lives." The family would like to thank Broome Oncology, Lourdes Hospice, Johns Hopkins, and close friend Dr. Michael McCarville for their dedicated treatment and support for Joe and his entire family. The family will receive friends at Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home Inc., 300 East Main St., Endicott, on Thursday, July 14th, from 5-7 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church on Friday, July 15th, at 10 a.m. Joe's benefit on July 23rd will also be a celebration of Joe's life. Expressions of sympathy are kindly accepted in Joe's honor to UHSEFCU c/o Joe Keough, 33-57 Harrison St., Johnson City, NY 13790. Remember that Joe will always tell you to "have fun storming the castle."
