Obituary of Marilyn C Bombard

Marilyn Bombard (1924 - 2011) Endicott: On the morning of September 19, 2011, Marilyn Claire Bombard, 86, left her earthly bonds peacefully, in the same house in which she was born on November 22, 1924. Marilyn was a graduate of Union-Endicott High School and Syracuse University, and her life was one of community involvement and service. She was a founding member of Meals on Wheels of Western Broome and served as a volunteer for over 30 years; an active member and officer of AARP, leading 99 memorable senior trips; a baptized and confirmed member of the Union Presbyterian Church for 75 years, serving as a deacon, elder, Sunday School teacher, secretary, alto voice, and F5 and G5 handbell ringer; a member of the Ideal Hospital Auxiliary, the Woman's Club of Endicott, PTA, Girl Scout leader, and the first woman to receive the Sertoma Club's Service to Mankind Award. There was never an occasion that she didn't acknowledge with a greeting card to shut-ins and friends. She was the only daughter of the late Anson S. and Jane E. Van Gorder. She is survived by her husband, Allan, "Get a mate in '48", and daughters, Sally, Claire, and Pamela and their families. Heartfelt thanks to the many, many caregivers who assisted Marilyn in her later years. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 24 at 10am at the Union Presbyterian Church with Rev. Patricia Raube officiating. Burial will be at the family's convenience in Riverside Cemetery in Endicott. The family will receive friends at Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, 300 E. Main St., Endicott from 4 - 7 pm on Friday, September 23. In Marilyn's memory, please consider a donation to Meals on Wheels of Western Broome or to the Union Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
