Obituary of Corey R. Brooks

Corey Robinson Brooks Endicott: Corey Robinson Brooks, 90, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2011. Corey was born in Mehoopany, Pennsylvania and was a resident of Vestal, New York for 50 years. He lived at the Ideal Senior Living Center in Endicott since 2004. He was predeceased by his loving wives: Elizabeth Sheehan Brooks and Carolyn Wurth Lane Brooks. He is survived by children: Beverly Brooks of Rochester, Barbara Poe of Binghamton and Ray Brooks of Johnson City; and by brother, Lynn Brooks of Tunkhannock, PA. Also survived by stepchildren: David Lane of Elmira, Carol (Howard) Gibson and Christi (Mark) DeLap, both of Vestal; and by brothers-in-law: James Gilbert (Iona) Sheehan and Kent (Alyce) Wurth and sister-in-law, Rosalind Hiney. Corey is survived and was greatly loved by his grandchildren: Emily and Elizabeth and by step grandchildren: Darren, Joei, Jessica, Dannielle, Kari, Ryan and Colin and by 12 great-grandchildren. Corey served in the Armed Services in a unit of the third army and was engaged in three major European conflicts. He was employed by IBM for 30 years where he had a successful career as a tool maker and manufacturing engineer. Corey was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 60 years. He was an active member of the Union Presbyterian Church, where he served several years as deacon. Photography was his lifelong hobby starting at age 14 when he purchased he first camera. A celebration of Corey's life will be held at the Union Presbyterian Church at a later date. Entombment will be at the Vaughn Cemetery in Mehoopany, Pennsylvania, at the convenience of the family.
