Obituary of Betty Jean Lord

Betty Jean (Newman) Lord Binghamton: Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt Betty Jean (Newman) Lord, 85, of Binghamton, New York died peacefully on September 24, 2011 surrounded by the love of family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Leonard J. Lord, Jr., her parents, Leon and Mae Newman, three brothers (Harold, Carl, and Richard Newman) and one sister (Audrey Bronson). Devoted to her family, Betty is survived by three children and their spouses, Gary (Ilsa) Lord of Yardley, PA; Sheryl (Frank) George of Lake Worth, FL; and Mark (Patty) Lord of Maine, NY. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, two sisters, Leona Badger and Willestine (Sissy) Callan and many nieces and nephews. She worked for the A&P and JP Morgan Chase. Later in life Betty spent time volunteering for the Broome County Department for the Aging and the YMCA Adopt-a-Grandparent Program. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, baking pies, playing cards and attending her children and grandchildren's ball games. The family will receive their friends on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 from 1 to 2 pm at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 E. Main St., Endicott with a graveside service to follow in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell with the Rev. Janice Marsi of the Endwell United Methodist Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Betty's name to Lourdes Hospice
