Obituary of Robert E. Munson

Robert E. Munson Robert E. Munson, 83 of Vestal passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at his home while surrounded by his loving and caring family. He was predeceased by his sister, Sarah Jane Coleman and brother Douglas E. Munson. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years Rachel Munson, 2 daughters, Lisa (Bill) Mallery and Beth (Joe) Munson-Krawecki both of Vestal, a brother, Pat Munson, CA, grand children, Emily (Steve) Rebello, Vestal, Eric Mallery, Vestal, Shannon (Al) Matolka, Vestal Center, Derek Matolka, Vestal. Great grandchildren, Brayden Rebello, Vestal, Jacob Nelson, Vestal Center, step grandchildren, Joey and Nick Krawecki, Apalachin. Bob was a veteran of WWII and a 36 year retiree of IBM Glendale. Following his retirement he fulfilled a life long dream and became an employee of Disney World in Florida for over 4 years. He was the former president of the IBM Quarter Century Club and was the proprietor of Munson's Pitch & Putt and Driving Range for 10 years. He was a member of the NYS Covered Bridge Association and he built a NYS Certified Covered Bridge on his property. He was an active member of the Vestal Center United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Men and was also the Church Historian. He was a member of the Vestal Center Volunteer Fire Police and he revitalized the annual Vestal Center Picnic. He was a volunteer for Meals On Wheels for 15 years, was a member of the Thomas Munson Foundation and the Masonic Lodge of Otseningo # 435. He hosted many Munson family reunions, loved antiques and was an avid woodworker. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 1:00 pm from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main St. Vestal, NY. Burial with full military honors will follow in Vestal Park Cemetery. The family will receive their friends on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 pm at the funeral home in Vestal.
