Obituary of Irving R. Kuenzli

Irving Kuenzli (1937 - 2011) Endwell: Irving R. Kuenzli, of Endwell, NY, formerly of Apalachin, NY, was born August 20, 1937. He passed peacefully to join his wife, Jan, in Heaven, on December 28, 2011, surrounded by his three daughters and beloved pets, Lucky and T.K. He was predeceased by his parents George and Mildred (Fish), his wife, Janet (Hoyt) Kuenzli and several sisters-in law and brothers-in-law. He is survived by his three daughters, Kelly (Steven) Haskell of Chenango Forks, Cassie (James) Spoor of Ellenville, NY and Patti (Gerald) (Loop) Scherer of Endwell; grandchildren, Jackson Haskell, Benjamin Haskell, Olivia Haskell, Remington Spoor, Kathrine Spoor, James (Franny) Loop, Adam Loop, Gerald Maxwell Scherer, and sweet little granddaughter Mya. He also leaves behind siblings Donna (Rodney) Bidwell, Charlotte Seamons, Carolyn (Fred) Kiefer, Rodney (Melanie) Kuenzli, Alice Sorenson and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George (Linda) Hoyt, Charles (Loretta) Hoyt, David (Dianne) Hoyt, Timothy Hoyt, Donna Hoyt, Nancy Rosenberger, Ann (Williard) Schultheis, in addition to many nieces and nephews. Irving worked briefly for the Endicott Johnson Shoe Factory before joining the Air Force, serving from 1953 - 56 as a KC-9 refueling specialist. After the service, he worked briefly selling cars in California and for a moving company before getting his dream job at IBM. Irv was a proud member of the Quarter Century Club and retired as trusted expediter in the circuit board department. Outside of work, Irving was the best known as the "garden man" for his huge vegetable garden by his home alongside the Apalachin Creek, even appearing once as the topic of a community feature article in this paper. Later in life he was known as that nice "old gentleman" with the Dalmatian dog. Memorial Services for Irving will be held at 7:00 PM at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home in Apalachin, NY, State Route 434, on Monday January 2, 2011. The Rev. James Willard will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until the time of service at 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Apalachin.
