Obituary of David Safford

David George Safford of Whitney Point David George Safford, 72, of Whitney Point, was called into the presence of the precious Lamb of God on Saturday, December 20, 2008. He was predeceased by his sister, Joanne; and Rosemary, his wife of thirty years and mother of four boys; and a stepdaughter, Pamela Hyde. He is survived by Carol Hyde Safford, his wonderful wife and caregiver; his sister, Joyce Safford, Joanne's twin; step daughters, Teresa Hyde, Rhonda Hyde Corby and Tom Ellis, Becca Hyde-Andrus and LeRoy Andrus; five step grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren; Steven and Dubey Safford and grandson, Benjamin; Stuart and Virginia Safford and grandchildren, Shannon, Andrew and Christopher; son, Thomas Safford and Joseph and Judy Safford. David served his nation in the Air Force, stationed on Okinawa, Japan. He was later employed at Glenwood Elementary School for over 25 years, keeping the kids safe and the school clean. David was a graduate of Practical Bible Training School and served his church faithfully for over 30 years as a deacon-trustee, Awana Club leader, a tenor in the choir, and his favorite, Sunday School teacher. He loved to write poetry and enjoyed creating object lessons. David is now standing, beholding his King and Master Teacher, Jesus. The funeral service will be held 6:00 p.m., Friday, December 26, at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 E. Main Street, Endicott. The Rev. Robert McGehee, Pastor of the West Endicott Baptist Church, and the Rev. Michael Maskel, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Castle Creek, will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
