Obituary of Myra Davies

Myra Davies Myra Rees Davies, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the age of 89. Her ready and welcoming smile and kindness will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She effortlessly made those around her smile and her greatest joys in life were her family and friends. Myra was born in South Wales, Great Britain and immigrated to the United States after her 16th birthday. She maintained her connections with family and friends in Wales throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and George Rees; her brothers, William, Clifford and Trevor; her sister, Jennet; as well as by her husband of fifty years, Basil (Dave) Davies. Myra is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Daphne (Strouthes) Davies of Johnson City; her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Paul Galatis of Minnesota; her granddaughter, Beth and Frank (Hiemstra) Galatis; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dear friends, Ruth and Harry Lewis, Ernestyne Cafferty, Caroline and Paul Labosky, and Judy and Jack Olsa, who call made the neighborhood a home. Services to be determined at a later date. The family asks that remembrances be made to the Meals on Wheels of Western Broome, 705 West Main St, Endicott, NY 13760 in lieu of flowers.
