Obituary of Duane S Hinds

Duane S. Hinds Of Vestal: Duane passed away February 23, reunited with his wife, Marilyn Taggart Hinds, who predeceased him in 1991. Duane was born May 8, 1934 to Raymond and Kate (Shaffer) Hinds in Carbondale, PA. Duane graduated in 1953 from Stevens Technical Institute and served four years in the US Air Force. It was during his travels while enlisted and stationed in Germany, that he acquired his firm belief that any potato (or product of) should be served with mustard. After his military discharge, Duane was hired as a computer engineer at IBM Endicott. Duane and Marilyn settled in Vestal, NY to raise their children, Kurt and Kristin. Years of raising a family made wonderful memories, including Duane's love of bowling, fishing, fixing things, and standard shift cars. Duane spent countless summer days at Beaver Lake in Windsor. Duane had a very sharp and analytical mind and loved numbers and figures. He researched anything and everything. Duane was a master at creating spreadsheets. He always had pads of paper, pencils, and rulers beside him. Duane was also an avid watcher of Fox News. He enjoyed talking politics with those close to him. In addition to his wife, Marilyn, Duane was predeceased by his parents and brother, Deane. Duane is survived by his children, Kurt and Diana Hinds and Kristin and Robert Moss, and grandchildren Tyler and Justin Hinds and Jackson, Moraya and Carson Moss. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and an array of other family members that were dear to him. Duane also leaves close family friends, Ray and Donna Rossen. Duane's family would also like to thank Sanjiv Patel, MD for giving our dad amazing medical care, giving us several more years of life to share with him. What a priceless gift. We would also like to thank the Cardiology department at Guthrie Clinic Sayre, PA and each and every staff member of Robert Packer Hospital, especially the staff of 6 NorthWest. Their care of our father and ourselves was beyond compare. The level of care he received gives us great comfort. We would also like to thank the staff of the Red Oak Diner who took exceptional care of him. Thank you all!
