Robert W. Sechrist
Robert W. Sechrist (Peanuts), 73, of Turrell Corners, Forest Lake Township, Pennsylvania passed away February 23, at Montrose Memorial Hospital, Montrose, PA unexpectedly. Born on Friday January 13, 1939 in Sayre, PA. Bob was predeceased by his father, James Sechrist. He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara (Tarbox) Sechrist of 52 years of marriage. Also, he is survived by his mother, Arletta Powers Sechrist of Birchardville, PA; his two sons Michael and wife Carole, Richard and wife Carol; his daughter Suzanne and fiance Greg Huntley. Also survived by his grandchildren David and Bradley Bryant, Casey, Brandon and Paige Nickerson; brother Donald and wife Donna; two sisters, Pat and husband Gene Wright, Cheryl and husband Robert Whitehead; also several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob graduated from Montrose High School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Air Force as an air traffic controller. Bob worked for Homer C. Gow Construction as a superintendent building dams, bridges, and many businesses. He was a member of the Carpenters Union #281 (077) coordinating work in IBM Owego, NY. Bob loved the outdoors, hunting and enjoyed 20 years of fishing on his boat the " Peanut Gallery" and camping in Troys Marina, Cayuga Lake, New York. He enjoyed planting trees, flowers, and a garden. He also enjoyed racing snowmobiles and stock cars. Bob served as a township supervisor in Apolacon Township, PA as road master and chief of police. Bob will be remembered for his love of life always a happy go lucky guy and had a wonderful sense of humor and was a very, very hard worker.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, February 28th, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. at Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, 300 East Main Street, Endicott, New York. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 29th at 10:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home. A private burial will be held Thursday, March 1st, at the family's request. The family expresses their thanks to the Montrose Minute Men, Silver Lake Police Department, the Silver Lake, Rush, and Forest Lake emergency services. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be sent to American Diabetes Association ,6390 Fly Rd., 2nd Floor, East Syracuse, NY 13057 or the charity of one's choice .
