Obituary of Phyllis A. Treadwell

Phyllis A. Treadwell 3-21-1929 to 3-1-2012 Phyllis Arlene Nichols Treadwell, affectionately known as "Fifi" of Apalachin, crossed into heaven from her home on March 1st as a result of an unexpected stroke at 82. Born to Henry & Marguerite Nichols she was raised in Vestal, NY with her two brothers Howard and David. A graduate of Vestal and Broome Community College, she worked for Ansco and waitressed at the Blue Moon for entertainment on the weekends in 1954. There she met her first love, Luke, who became her husband shortly thereafter. He passed in1994 and now has his dancing partner back. During their 40 years of marriage Phyllis worked as a bookkeeper and receptionist for contractors Neil Guiles Paving, Gerry Grimaldi Home Builders, and Bruce Barrett at his start. She also used her business savvy in helping all four of her children in their respective business endeavors. She has five children: An infant son, Jonathan David, predeceased her in 1961. Her daughter, Victoria Gillen (predeceased 2010) survived by her husband Phil (their children Michelle, Jonathan, Nicole); her son Gary and wife Connie (their children Chris, Courtney, Zachary); her son, Jeff and wife Penny (their son, Thomas); and daughter Pegg Treadwell-Brink and husband Todd (their children Leslie-Morgan, Alexis, and April). She is also a great-grandmother to two children, (Tristan and Savannah). She lived a full life surrounded by love and will be truly missed. She was an avid golfer with her Apalachin golfing buddies especially Jean and Shirley, a great bowler and secretary to the Senior Strikers where she was blessed to meet her second love, Dr. Phil Mattola. "Dr. Phil and Famous Phyllis" since 2004. Their every Thursday dates were filled with smiles and giggles and she enjoyed every minute - especially when he brought chocolates and gave kisses. "Until we see each other again." Mom's deepest love and thanks goes to her newly adopted "Robin"/caregiver Ashley and her children, who for the past year have given her so much - her trips out especially Tioga Gardens where she could see & smell the flowers - one of her many passions (her green thumb could touch anything and it would blossom). Thank You Ashley for her social life being always filled with fun and adventure - even building snowmen in the house. We are forever grateful. We wish to express our deepest gratitude to Janet Kriswalus her long time and best friend for her caring, prayers and love; Connie, Julie, and the Homesteads family where she stayed for a while and they continued to keep in touch, Dr. Wasco and his wonderful staff for all their care for the past seven years, TCHD Janine and Judy for their support and help with Mom's physical rehab. To the countless friends - we say this humbly, Thank You for sharing your life's moments, laughter and shared memories with mom. In mom's words: "This is not goodbye - we'll just see you later." THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE THEIR FRIENDS ON SUNDAY FROM 3 TO 6 PM AT THE COLEMAN & DANIELS FUNERAL HOME, 6519 STATE ROUTE 434, APALACHIN. Funeral Services for Phyllis will be held on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 10 am from the Lakeview Chapel of the Christian Missionary Alliance, 185 Day Hollow Road, Owego (behind Owego Visions Credit Union) with the Rev. Todd Wolfe pastor of the church officiating. Burial will be in South Apalachin Cemetery.
