Obituary of Geradine Lee Murray

Geraldine (Gerry) Lee Murray of Apalachin, N.Y. Geraldine (Gerry) Lee Murray, 72, of Apalachin, N.Y. was called into the presence of our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 23. Gerry was predeceased by her loving husband, Jack C. Murray; her parents and her two sisters, Marily Frymier and Fae Dake. She is survived by her son, Douglas and his wife, Marilyn, Owego, N.Y. and daughter, Wendy and her loving husband, Marlon, Brackney, Pa. Grammie was blessed with four wonderful grandchildren, Ian and Chelsi Murray, and Cora Jo and Emmie Lu Gibson. Gerry was very close with her nieces and nephews, Craig Johnson, Cynthia Johnson Orr and her husband, David, Roxanne Seeley, Linda Pintler, and Chester and Roger Dake. Originally from Mt. Carmel, Pa., Gerry grew up in Lewisburg while her parents, Chester and Marion Kendter owned and operated the Bison Restaurant on Bucknell University Campus. She met one of her closest friends, Mary Alice Deihl during high school then went away to Rhode Island for college and worked in Hartford, Connecticut. She was employed at Ozalid as an administrative accountant and at Essentials by Ileen as a bridal consultant. Gerry was always surrounded by her loving and devoted friends. She spent many afternoons with her neighbor, Alberta Whiting (Aunt Berta) shopping, playing Scrabble, gardening and putting together puzzles. She was very fortunate to have had many good friends, including Marge Neeley, Winny Allen, Joyce Pass, Delma and Thelma West, while serving as an active member of the First Baptist Church in Owego. She dedicated much of her time on the Christian Board of Education as the Nursery Nana, the Sunbeam Circle's white cross coordiator, and the Treasurer of the Benevolence Fund. Loved ones and friends are invited to attend a memorial service held at the First Baptist Church of Owego, 228 Main St. on Saturday, January 3rd starting at 10:00 a.m. for visiting time. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend G. Terry Steenburg officiating Gerry's life celebration. Internment will be made at the Apalachin Cemetery on Marshland Rd. this coming spring. Expressions in memory of Gerry can be made to Lourdes Hospice for the loving care given by Kristy and Jaynine, the Benevolence Fund, or any charitable organization of your choice in Gerry's memory.
