Obituary of Richard Rouse

Richard Rouse Richard C. (Dick) Rouse, 81, of Endwell, NY, Rancho Cordova, CA, & Folsom CA, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Willow Point Nursing Home, after a long illness, with his loving family by his side. Dick was predeceased by his father, Paul Rouse; his mother, Ruth (Reeves) Rouse; his stepmother, Maude (Wheeler) Rouse; his brother, Eugene (Stuff) Rouse; his sisters, Shirley Gwyther, Beverly (Abe) Pettis and Barbara Springer; mother-in-law, Edna Baker; father-in-law, Carl Martens; sister-in-law, Joyce Hayes; brothers-in-law, Al Pettis and Don Martens; and nephews, Gene Rouse, Paul Davis and Scott Hayes. Dick is survived by his loving family, his wife of 59 years, Shirley A. (Martens) Rouse; his three daughters, Debbie and Rob Vought, Sherry and Tom Yarosh and Terry Jo Parsons; Seven grandchildren, Melissa (Rouse) and Steve Decker, Dan Vought, Rick, Bill and John Yarosh, Megan (Crawford) and Jared Dailey and Hannah Parsons; two great-grandchildren, Courtney Decker and Connor Dailey; his sister, Janet Davis; sisters-in-laws, Lina Rouse, Aggie and Roy Conklin, Blanche and Darrel Stanton, Jewel Martens; brothers-in-law, Ray Hayes and Carl & Sally Martens; also a special niece and her husband, Vicki & Jeff Lee and many more nieces, nephews and cousins. Also, many IBM friends. Dick was retired from IBM and the Folsom Cordova School District. He was a member of the Vestal Elks Club. Dick enjoyed playing his guitar, tinkering with his dad and brother Stuff on Friday nights, going to the cottage on Cayuga Lake after the stock car races in Glen Aubrey, traveling to historical sights, smelt fishing with his girls and making his old truck, having friends over to the house for cookouts, volleyball at Smitty & Jerrys and being with all his friends on Roberts Street and just spending time with his family and friends. He was a special man with many talents whom will be sadly missed by his family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dick's name may be made to the Binghamton Humane Society. A special thanks to all the staff and nurses at Willow Point Nursing Home for all the care they gave Dick. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., Endicott
