Obituary of Ruth M. Murphy

Murphy, Ruth Johnson City: Ruth Murphy, 95, peacefully went to her Savior on April 6, 2012, at the JG Johnson Nursing Home/Hilltop in Johnson City. In her last few days on earth, she was surrounded by her loving family, who will forever cherish her memory. Ruth is reunited in God's Kingdom with those who preceded her, including James E Murphy, her husband of 60 years; her mother, Della Keller; father, Harry Schott, and her brothers, Atlee, Harry, Jack, Robert and Walter. Ruth is survived by her three children and their spouses: Johanna and Tim Masters, Brackney , PA, James and Patricia Murphy, Warren, PA, and Janice and David Koncak, Apalachin, NY. She leaves behind seven grandchildren, Teri Geisenhof (Mark Sullivan), Vestal, Tami Constantino (Mike Meisenheimer), S.Daytona, FL, Sara Goff (Jonas Nilsson), London, UK, Nelson Murphy, Westlake, OH, Tyler (Sam) Cawley, Hartford, CT, Erika (Tom) Bronk, Owego, NY, and Samantha Koncak-Brown (Noah Brown), Candor, NY; eight great-grand children, Jason (Kyra) Farthing, Matthew (Brandi) Farthing, Keith Geisenhof, Ryan Geisenhof, Carly Constantino, Loren Constantino, Owen Bronk, and Lucas Nilsson; and three great-great granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Kendall and Allie Farthing. Ruth is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Murphy, Mason City, IA; and many nieces, nephews and their families. Ruth was born in Binghamton February 18, 1917, graduated from Binghamton Central HS, and attended Albany College. She and Jim raised their children in Johnson City, lived 10 years in Springfield, VA, moved to Vestal, NY to be near the grandkids, and spent many happy years together as independent residents of Hilltop Retirement Center. Ruth was kind, loving and giving. Faith and family were all to her. She encouraged her family in music, the arts, academics, and the Christian faith. Her heart and home were always open to others, especially children. She loved unconditionally and always put others first. A Memorial Service and celebration of her life will be held at St .Paul's Episcopal Church, Owego, at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Endicott. A special thank you to the staff of JG Johnson Unit I for their compassionate care.
