Obituary of Shirley McManus

Shirley Francis McManus (Brown) Shirley McManus, 97 of Conklin, peacefully went to be with our Heavenly Father and rejoin George her husband of 58 years on Saturday, July 14, 2012. She was predeceased by her parents, Cora and Henry Brown; brother, Joseph Brown and son-in-law, Rolland Vallese. She is survived by her daughters, Eva Vallese, Julie Gardner and her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Marian McManus; 10 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 3 great-great granddaughters and many other family and friends. Mamie, as she was known to her family, was a pillar of strength. Her quiet, patient and loving manner instilled Christian qualities in her family that will remain throughout the generations to come. Each of her family has unique memories of Mamie but all will agree that a cheerful smile, a hug and a full cookie jar are high on the list. She was a member of the Afton United Methodist Church. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 12 Noon from the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home 300 East Main St, Endicott. The Rev. Gary Kubitz, pastor of the Afton United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Maine Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Friday from 10AM until service time at noon. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Afton United Methodist Church.
