Obituary of Valentine J. Kircher

Valentine J. Kircher Valentine J. Kircher, Endicott, NY: A very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather fell asleep into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 19, 2012 at the age of 82. He was predeceased by his parents, Valentine D. and Flora Irene June Kircher, one brother, Arnold N. Kircher and a sister, Rose Garrison. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Geraldine, two daughters, Regina Kircher and Chyrl and Ronald Doebler, two sons, Mark and Kelli Kircher and Scott and Rebecca Kircher, grandchildren, Christina and Kelly Soboleski, Jennifer and Tyler Hitchcock, Rebecca Kircher, Jessica Kircher, Ashley and Mary Melady, Kahl and Erin Miller, Stefan and Susan Miller and Jesse Miller and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by his two brothers, Joseph Kircher and John Kircher; three sisters, Eleanor West, Lola Louise VanSteenburgh and Alice Schnurbusch. He is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ernest and Ruth Bryant, Clifford Bidwell, Betty Lacey and many nieces and nephews. He was born June 6, 1930 and was raised on "the farm" in Greene, NY. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired from Link after 41 years as personnel manager and then project manager with Flight Simulation. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting, walking in the woods and working outside in the yard and the garden. He was a kind, gentle and quiet man who was always eager to lend a hand to family, friends and neighbors. Val was very much loved by his family and all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th Floor, NY, NY 10001 and the American Cancer Society, 13 Beech St., Johnson City, NY 13790. Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Elderwood Nursing Facility in Waverly, NY for their loving care during his stay there. Funeral services will be held at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 East Main St., Endicott at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 23. Burial will follow at Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
