Obituary of Bertel T. Perry

Perry, Jr., Bertel T. Apalachin: Bertel T. Perry Jr. of Apalachin, NY passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012. He was born in Schenectady NY on November 18, 1925, and predeceased by his parents, Bertel T. Perry Sr. and Florence Perry. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janet Gage Perry and his four children and their families, Bertel T. Perry III and his wife, Laurie J. Perry their children, Christian and Alexander; his daughter, Elizabeth Ludwig and husband, Phillip Ludwig their children, Phillip, Heidi and great granddaughter, Kira; son, William and wife, Constance and children, Jillian, William and Hillary; son, Robert, wife Mary and children, Camryn and Mia. Bert graduated from Franklin PA. High School in 1943 and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1951. Bert was a WWII veteran serving in the US Navy as a radioman from 1944 to 1946. After college Bert Worked for Mobil Oil, General Mills, Carborundum and retired from IBM in 1986 after 23 years. Throughout out his life he enjoyed volunteering in many organizations; He served as church treasurer for 20 years at Park Terrace United Methodist Church (PTCUMC). He also served as treasurer for the Apalachin Fire Department. He enjoyed his time as Cub Master and Troop Leader for BSA Troop 43. He also volunteered for Family and Children's Society. He was a member of the Fraternal Lodge #625 F&AM in Hamburg NY. He was also a member of Theta Chi Fraternity at RPI. Memorial Services will be held at 11 am Friday, July 27, 2012 at Park Terrace Community United Methodist Church, 30 Glann Road in Apalachin, NY 13732. The family will receive friends at 10 am. Following the service a luncheon will be served in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of Flowers a memorial contribution can be made to PTCUMC. Arrangements are with the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Apalachin.
