Obituary of Lloyd Fish

Lloyd Hamilton Fish Lloyd Hamilton Fish, Endicott, NY, "slipped the surly bonds of earth and touched the hand of God "on September 24, 2012, after a long illness, at the Oxford Veterans Home, Oxford, NY. He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie E. (Stemples) Fish, his parents, Tillie (Williams)and Harold H. Fish, sister, Elizabeth Errigo, a son, Lloyd H. Fish, Jr. and a daughter, Valerie E. Fish. He is survived by his children, Susan E. Fish , Linda (Peter) Dabulewicz and Lloyd Jeffrey Fish, six grandchildren, Rebecca, Laura, Christopher, Trevor, Jeffrey and Joseph, and two great grandchildren. He was born 11/21/26 in Endicott, NY. He played clarinet and tenor saxophone in the EJ and UEHS bands, in the Navy and in Dick Hollenbeck's band during the 1940's, where he played and sang at various little bars in Johnson City and Endicott, including the old Fountains Pavilion. He once got to sit in with the Lionel Hampton band while in the service. He graduated early from Union Endicott High School in January 1943 in order to attend school at Hobart College. He enlisted and served in the US Navy as a radio operator during WWII, serving on the USS Escort Carrier, Corregidor, in the South Pacific. He met Marjorie Stemples in September 1950. By December 1950 they were engaged and were married on Valentine's Day 1951. They were married for 49 years when the love of his life, Marjorie, passed away. He worked as a salesman for W.A. Case & Sons, Fancher's and then for Sage Supply as a salesman and later as a sales manager, retiring in 1991. He returned to school, graduating with honors from Binghamton University in 1974. He had a wicked sense of humor, was a voracious reader, had a "photographic memory" when younger. He was happiest tending his tomato garden, taking his family on vacations to Maine, listening to big band music, opera and discussing political issues. He later developed an interest in oil painting and was pretty good at it. The family would like to thank the staff and doctors at the Oxford Vets Home for their kindness, respect and the excellent care they provided to our father. Visitation services will be held at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Main St, Endicott, NY on Friday 9/28/12 from 5:.00pm-7:00pm, followed by a funeral service on Saturday 09/29/12 at 10:30am. Burial will follow at the Vestal Park Cemetery, Main St., Vestal, NY with military honors.
