Karl A. Wagner
Endicott: Karl A. Wagner, 88, of Endicott, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at Wilson Hospital. Born and raised in Owego, NY, he was the last survivor of 10 children of Otto and Frieda Wagner. That generation has now come to a close. Karl was predeceased by his wife, Helen Orzol Wagner, in 2001. They were married for nearly 55 years. Karl was also predeceased by their son, Ronald J. Wagner (1992); grandson, Richard Anthony Ciotoli (1983); and son-in-law Jake Donovan (2010). His siblings who predeceased him are Joseph Wagner, August Wagner, Alfred Wagner, Mary Wagner, Hilda Bahney, Helen Herold, Robert Wagner, Paul Wagner and John Wagner. Karl is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Karen and DeWitt Lampman, Gibsonia, PA, Anita Donovan, Williamsburg, VA, Janet and Anthony Ciotoli, Endicott, Marie Wagner, Round Rock, TX; 11 grandchildren, Travis, Sonya, Brad, Ryan, Lyndsey, Jason, Jon, Justin, Mark, Ross and Leslie; 3 great-grandchildren, Carson, Anthony, Mia; two sisters-in-law, Sophie Zandy, Endwell, and Edith Wagner, Owego; and many compassionate relations and friends, especially Joseph Materese and Linda Towner. Karl was a veteran of the US Army and proudly served his country during WWII. He was a faithful IBM employee for 32 years and worked as a precision tool maker. Karl enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing. He loved playing pinochle, pitch and mostly gin. Karl's favorite winning cheer was "Gin, Baby!!!" He provided his wife, Helen, with many plowed fields so that she could enjoy her love of gardening. The family wishes to acknowledge the multitude of caregivers, doctors and nurses who so lovingly cared for Karl over the months and years, especially Dr. Bruce Bowling and staff of Endwell Family Physicians, Dr. Bryan K. Rutledge and staff, Retina Vitreous Surgeons of CNY and the Tioga County Heath Dept.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012, at St. Vincent De Paul Church at 12:00 p.m., 465 Clubhouse Rd., Vestal, NY. Karl's family will receive family and friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. - noon. Immediately following, a Funeral Mass will be offered by Karl's nephew, Father Edward Zandy. Karl will be laid to rest next to his wife and son at Broadway Cemetery, Day Hollow Rd., Owego. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Karl's honor to the Campville Volunteer Emergency Squad, 6153 State Route 17C, Endicott, NY 13760.
