Richard W. Crouse
Richard W. Crouse, 87, died at home, January 17, 2013. He was born in Berwick PA and raised in Vestal, NY. Dick served in the US Navy in WWII as an Aerial Tail gunner on the Carrier USS Bennington. He was employed by IBM Endicott for 38 years. Dick was a Life member of the Vestal American Legion Post 89. He served as a lobbyist for Veteran affairs on the National Security Commission for 25 years. Dick was the 6th District Commander, past Post and County Commander and served as an aid to Dick Pedro at the state level. He enjoyed mentoring young people with values and sportsmanship. Dick was instrumental in sending young men to Boy's State and wrote several recommendations for candidates to West Point. His hobby was stamp collecting. He was a sweet and gentle man who loved to dance. Dick was predeceased by his parents Grace (Midge) and Arthur, his wife of 55 years, Kandi, brothers Frank and Art. He is survived by daughters Sandy Crouse of Cincinnati OH and Cheri Apelbaum of St. Petersburg FL, sister-in-laws, Joanie Crouse and Milly Tandy, nieces and nephews in NY, AZ and CA. The family will receive friends at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 765 Main Street, Vestal, on Sunday, January 20, 2013 from 1-4 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
