Obituary of Harold Roth

Harold R. Roth Vestal: Harold Roth, 78, passed away on January 31, 2013 after an extended illness. Harold was born September 26, 1934 to Robert and Gladys Roth of Endicott, NY. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra (Jones) Roth; his son, Craig Roth (and partner Ed Sautter) of Syracuse, NY and daughter, Renee Roth-O'Neil (John O'Neil) of West Galway, NY. He is also survived by his two cherished grandchildren, Ashlyn and Gavin O'Neil of West Galway, NY. Harold had no siblings, but leaves behind Lois and Howard Shenton of Mauldin, SC and family as well as James and Sonia Ormiston of Florida. Harold also leaves behind brother-in-law Lacey Jones and wife Shirley of Governeur, NY, and sister-in-law, Louellen Jones of Sauquoit, NY, plus several beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Also surviving is his canine friend, Buffy, a Welsh Corgi. Harold was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church in Endicott, NY. As a member of the church, he often volunteered as an usher. Harold was a member of the Boy Scout Troop 201 and drove the scout bus in his later years. He graduated from Union-Endicott high school in 1953. Harold was employed by IBM for 34 years and retired in 1991. He enjoyed being a part of IBM's Quarter Century Club. Harold's passion was his music as he enjoyed playing clarinet and alto sax for the EJ Band, IBM Band, The German Band and The Melody Masters. He also enjoyed boating, fishing and annual Summer vacations at Cape Cod with his family and close friends. Harold's adventures with his family and friends while camping on vacation have made for many humorous and laughter-filled moments. His infectious smile warmed many hearts and made many others smile even in his last days. Harold was a loving Father and Grandfather and will be missed by all of his family and friends. The family wishes to thank all those who helped care for Harold over the last two years at Bridgewater and Vestal Park Nursing Homes. Funeral Services for Harold will be held on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 11:00 am from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home 765 Main St. Vestal with the Rev. Susan B. Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Vestal Park Cemetery, Vestal. The family will receive their friends on Sunday from 3 to 5 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Harold's memory to the First United Methodist Church at 53 McKinley Ave., Endicott, NY or the Humane Society at 2 Jackson Street in Binghamton, NY.
