Obituary of Jean Funk

Jean Lawton Funk Endwell: Jean Lawton Funk, 96, of Endwell died Tuesday April 16, 2013. She was predeacesed by her husband, Bryan L. Funk; her parents, George and Leah Lawton; her infant sister, Mary; and sisters, Audrey Gilmartin and Louise Simington. She is survived by her son, Roger L Funk of Moreno Valley, CA; brother-in-law, Dr. Joseph Simington of Berwick, PA; brother-in-law, Dr. Fred Gilmartin of Sarasota, FL; niece, Susan and husband Kenneth Long of Michigan; a nephew, Fred and wife Lori Gilmartin of Bethlehem, PA; also several cousins. Jean graduated from Millville High School in Pennsylvania, and Bloomsburg University, with additional coursework at Penn State and Bucknell Universities. She began teaching in a one room school house in Pennsylvania, and continued teaching in PA for 13 Years. She retired in 1980 from the Maine-Endwell School District as a Elementary teacher. She was a member of the Endwell United Methodist Church, and the Deborah Circle, NYSRTA, and the Western Broome RTA, Eastern Star of Waterloo, NY. She loved her family and friends, and teaching associates. She also loved bowling, bridge, golfing, camping and church activities. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 10 AM from the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home Inc, 300 East Main St, Endicott. The Rev. Jan Marsi, pastor of her Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4PM at the Funeral Home.
