I just learned of your mom's passing even though it was in 2016. I want you all to know what she meant to me. I had to return to Vestal High School for my post graduate year in 1976. I hadn't paid much attention to getting the credits or grades necessary for college admission and though I graduated with my class in 1975, I had to return in 1976 to earn those credits necessary to get into a college. My Aunt, Celia Stahl was a Guidance Counselor at VHS, and despite my "fear" she encouraged me to take Shorthand 1 and 2 with your mom. She was so kind and made me feel so comfortable in her class. My grade for both her classes were 100. I was so proud of my accomplishment and was able to share my success with a very proud Aunt and mother! Long story short, I eventually graduated from Juniata College in PA with a BSW in Social Work. I recently retired after 40 years in the field. Your mother gave me the confidence to believe I could accomplish anything I set my mind to do! I used my shorthand skills all thru college and in my profession as well. Just wanted to share what I'm sure all of you already knew.....what an amazing woman and teacher your mom was. God bless and thank you. Jill C. Cartledge
