Obituary of Marion F. Holland
Marion Holland passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 16, 2016, in Toms River NJ, after a long illness. Marion is predeceased by the love of her life; husband Roger Holland who passed away in 1984. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Holland and husband, Chris Gilman; daughter, Barbara Holland and husband, Rick Clinton, her much beloved grandson Jamie Holland Clinton; her "other" daughter Laurie Haskell; and many, many cherished relatives and friends (too numerous to note here, but you know who you are!). Marion was raised in Endicott, NY and graduated from Union-Endicott High School in 1942. She spent the war years at Grove City College, graduating in 1948. This same year she married Roger Holland in the Union Presbyterian Church, where she and Roger became active members who taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and served variously as deacon, elder, secretary and good friend. Marion was especially proud of her contributions building the Triple Cities College/Harpur College into the State University of New York, under the guidance of her mentor and University "founding father" Glenn G. Bartle. She also cherished her 25-year career at Vestal High School where she taught and touched countless students. Marion truly loved her friends and family, and will be remembered with the same love. Calling hours are 10-11AM, Thursday, January 21, at Union Presbyterian Church, 200 E Main St, Endicott, NY, with funeral services immediately thereafter. A celebratory lunch will follow at 12:30PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, PO Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741, or michaeljfox.org.
