Obituary of David A. Robertson

David Robertson, 79, of Apalachin, NY passed away peacefully at home with his children by his side on August 25, 2022. He was predeceased by his parents, D. Hurley and Naomi (Harlan) Robertson. He is survived by his children, Kathi Weaver of Manassas, VA, Karen Busby of Manassas, VA, Dale Robertson and his wife, Melissa of Columbia, VA, and Jennifer Robertson of Stoneham, MA; grandchildren, Julie and Nick Weaver, Matthew and Michael Busby, Tori Jo Eads, Lane Carrigan; sister, Sarah Surratt of Nashville, GA; brother, Joe Robertson (Lori) of Bentonville, AR; longtime devoted friend, Gloria Fisher of Vestal. David was born and raised in Salisbury, MO. He graduated from Salisbury High School in 1960 and attended the University of Missouri before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1961. He served on the USS Cadmus as well as the USS Wrangell as a Radioman/Teletype and Telecommunications Repairman. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he was employed by IBM until 2000. He then started a telecommunications and fiber optic consulting company, DARTEC, in 2000 which he owned and managed until officially retiring in 2012. A gifted and enthusiastic amateur radio operator from a young age, KN0RNJ (later W4GTB) enjoyed communicating with other ham radio operators across the globe. His kids have fond memories of summer trips back home to Salisbury and the communications with local friend, Floyd Hughes, KN0ODO along the journey. He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed a good practical joke, and family and friends. The hobbies he enjoyed most were street rods and antique cars, wood working, boating, hunting and fishing. A celebration of life will be held at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home in Apalachin on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, 10AM. See obituary on www.colemananddaniels.com.
