Obituary of David Hanley Weyant
David Hanley Weyant, 87, of Endwell, New York, passed away peacefully on May 3rd, 2024 in his home with his children and dear friend at his side. He was born August 7, 1936, in Broome County, NY to the late John and Irena Weyant. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
A proud veteran of the US Army, David served his country with honor before embarking on a fulfilling career at IBM. Retiring at a young age, he cherished over 30 years of precious moments pursuing his passions and nurturing relationships. Some of the hobbies he enjoyed through the years included golf, bowling, roller skating, music editing, and especially the card game pinochle. He was known for his signature bucket hats and he loved watching sports, especially golf and football. He heavily supported and bragged about the local teams; in particular, Maine Endwell, which he lived very close to. He has talked about their famous 2016 Little League World Championship and watched their winning game many times! He loved the Lord and talked about being ready to go home to be with Him. He will be greatly missed by all who know him.
David is survived by his two children, Lisa (David) Brown and Matthew (Keira) Weyant; six cherished grandchildren, Madeline (Justin), Leslie (Taylor), Connor, Logan, Liam and Aislynn; dear friend, Marsha Doupe; sisters, Betty Hamilton and Violet Hitchcock; and many loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, John James Weyant and Irena (Keesler) Weyant; and his brothers and sisters, Esther, Nellie, John, Everett, Janice, Faye and Albert.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Lourdes/Guthrie Hospice team for their exceptional care and support during David's final months. Their compassion and dedication eased the journey for both David and his loved ones. God will surely bless them for their sacrificial and loving service to those in need in the community.
David's funeral service will be held on Monday, May 13, at 12 noon at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home in Endicott. A burial will follow at Chenango Valley Cemetery, 120 Nowlan Rd, Binghamton, NY 13901. The family will receive friends at 11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
